Expert Care for Mother and Baby:

The health of the baby and mother is our primary concern. To help assure a safe delivery, we bring you the services of a highly skilled staff. Anesthetists are also available during birth. Should an emergency arise, you have the important advantage, immediate access to all our sophisticated hospital services. We continue to care even after you and your baby leaves the hospital. If you have a question after you and your baby leave New Beginnings, call us day or night at (270) 251-4185. Certified Nurse-Midwife:

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNM) are available to provide care during pregnancy, labor and birth. During pregnancy, the CNM will monitor the health of you and your baby regularly and is prepared to teach and answer questions. During labor the Nurse-Midwife will evaluate your progress and is there to offer emotional support. Nurse-Midwives are uniquely qualified to provide a family centered birth experience, based on individual needs and preferences. Nurse-Midwives work closely with obstetricians to provide care to women with higher risk pregnancies. Our Certified Nurse-Midwives are Candace Riehl, CNM, and Lisa Spillman, CNM.

Breast-Feeding:

Our New Beginnings nursing staff introduces the expectant couple to the natural process of breast-feeding. Personal instruction and encouragement will be provided after your baby is born. A support group provides ongoing information. Call (270) 251-4282.

Prepared Childbirth:

We believe that the experience of childbirth and parenting are enhanced when parents can assume their roles with knowledge of what to expect, strategies for coping, and techniques to optimize the many positive features. Obstetrical nurses teach the parents-to-be what to expect during childbirth and how to prepare through relaxation and breathing techniques.

Exercise Guidelines for Mothers-To-Be:

Before you begin exercising, check with your doctor to make sure that the activities you have chosen are safe. Exercising for 20 to 30 minutes three times a week is usually recommended, although more frequent exercise is preferred.

Click here to visit our Growing Family Web Nursery. This is a place for parents to share pictures of their newborns with friends and family on the World Wide Web (the babies are listed by birth date).

(Note: the New Beginnings staff takes the pictures and sends them to "Growing Family" for inclusion on their site, hence, there can be a delay  of a few days before the pictures are accessible to the public)

It seems that the minute people find out you’re pregnant, they want to share every piece of information they know regarding pregnancy. We thought it would be fun to list several old tales and see if they fit your pregnancy. So what are you having, a boy or a girl? Click here to view our "Fact or Fiction" page.
