Critical Care Unit
The Critical Care Unit at Jackson Purchase Medical Center is an eight-bed specialty care unit. It is operational 24 hours a day, each day of the year and is designed to provide a concentration of skills, equipment, and facilities for specialized medical and nursing care for the critically ill patient.
This unit is for the patient who requires continuous, comprehensive, and detailed intensive care because of the critical nature of the patient's disease or illness. A multi-disciplinary approach is utilized by consultations with dietary, pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy and social services when appropriate to meet the patients needs.
Rehabilitative and preventative services are also provided by the initiation of patient education and discharge planning. We provide intensive nursing and medical care for critically ill patients. Care of the critically-ill patient is provided by the physician and by highly skilled critical care staff.
Due to the condition and nature of illness of the patients, visiting must be restricted in critical care. Visits are limited to two (2) family members for 15 minutes at the following times:
|6:00 - 6:15 am
||12:00 - 12:15 pm
||6:00 - 6:15 pm
|8:00 - 8:15 am
||2:00 - 2:15 pm
||8:00 - 8:15 pm
|10:00 - 10:15 am
||4:00 - 4:15 pm
Sometimes visiting will be delayed for a short time due to an emergency or special procedure. If this should happen, we will notify you of the delay, and you will be notified as soon as possible for your 15 minute visiting period.
The patient's minister may visit at any time at the discretion of the nursing staff. We realize this is a difficult time for families, but we feel these policies help meet the patients most immediate needs. Thank you for your consideration.
