Surgery Department

Surgery is always fully staffed on Monday-Friday from 6:30-3:00. However, our surgical staff are always within 20 minutes or less from Jackson Purchase Medical Center 24 hours a day. This is an important advantage in an emergency.

We have several callback teams in place; an OR callback team, an endoscopic callback team, an anesthesiology team, and a VBack call team which handles emergency C-sections.

All of our Registered Nurses are ACLS Certified and every step is taken to make sure our clinical staff is trained to keep up with the advances in surgical medicine.

Pre-Admissions

If you are scheduled for surgery, you should come to Jackson Purchase Medical Center to Pre-register, meet with a Pre-admissions nurse, and get any necessary pre-op work done, such as lab work. This step prior to surgery will speed up the process as well as decrease anxiety on the day of surgery.

It is important to follow the pre-op instructions provided and arrive at the time instructed by your physician. This also allows us enough time to properly contact your insurance provider to make sure they will cover the procedure or make other arrangements. It also gives patients a chance to ask any questions or express any concerns to a registered nurse prior to surgery. Also, family members can be informed about what to expect post operative, etc.

We have 16 Same day Surgery beds, 4 OR beds, 2 endoscopy beds, and one minor procedure room. It is the goal of Jackson Purchase Medical Center and the surgery staff to make our patients as comfortable as possible during their stay at our facility. Privacy is a priority at JPMC, and we feel that the improved layout of our Surgery department will ensure added comfort and privacy for our patients.
