Podiatry is the study, prevention and treatment of problems of the foot. These may involve anything from a sports injury to an ingrown toenail. A podiatrist may prescribe corrective devices and medication or recommend physical therapy.

Wound Care
The podiatrist on our medical staff is trained in wound care and sees patients at the Advanced Healing Wound Care Center at Jackson Purchase Medical Center for issues of the feet, typically seen in Diabetes patients. Foot conditions requiring wound care can be more prevalent in people with the following conditions:

- diabetes
- heart disease and stroke
- high cholesterol
- obesity
- poor blood circulation
